Even in the face of 2022’s crypto downturn, San Francisco’s Ripple set its sights firmly on expansion. The crypto startup put down roots up north with a new Toronto office last year, aiming to bolster its ranks with 50 engineers.

Devraj Varadhan, SVP of engineering at Ripple, said at the time that the Toronto office will play a pivotal role in driving Ripple’s innovations from blockchain protocol development and decentralized applications to machine learning and payment solutions.

Below you’ll find that Ripple is hiring engineers to take on a variety of responsibilities in bringing crypto solutions to the mainstream. Check out all the organizations recruiting at Jobs.BetaKit for more opportunities.

Principal Engineer

Ripple is looking for engineers with at least 12 years’ experience in designing and developing complex distributed systems for its open principal engineer role. Applicants should also have over five years’ experience in Java and have worked with Python, NoSQL, and RDBMS.

The successful candidate will contribute to Ripple’s “Payments at 10X roadmap.” They will be responsible for defining the future state system architecture and engineering best practices while working closely with product managers and other customer facing functions.

This position also requires the principal engineer to lead engineering forums, improve engineering standards, and guide others in their career development.

Senior Software Engineer, RippleNet Payments

For engineers with slightly less experience and looking for a hands-on role in building infrastructure, Ripple is hiring those with a bachelor’s degree in computer science, or similar, to be a senior software engineer for its RippleNet Payments system.

Applicants should have five to seven years of hands-on software development experience on large scale distributed systems, with the last three to five years in Java or similar, such as Golang or Scala. Ripple is also looking for these applicants to have experience in building transactional systems and deploying containerized applications.

The position will require the successful candidate to build reliable, high-throughput, low-latency services for cross border transactions.

Senior Director, Engineering (Liquidity)

The last position Ripple is looking for is a senior director of engineering for its payments and crypto liquidity offerings. Applicants to this position should have at least a master’s degree in computer science or another quantitative field with a demonstrated ability in software development.

Ideal candidates will have a track record of leadership and technical excellence in designing and delivering reliable global-scale solutions. Ripple is looking for a hands-on leader that can set a technical direction and invent customer-focused solutions.

The hired candidate will mentor, lead, and grow the team of applied scientists, engineers, and technical program managers building Ripple’s liquidity and trading platforms.

While this last position is based out of Ripple’s London, UK office, applicants have the option to take advantage of Ripple’s “flexible first” policy, allowing its employees to work from home, from the offices, or a combination of the two.

Ripple also offers benefits that cover physical and mental healthcare, retirement, and a mobile phone stipend. Those interested in working at Ripple in the future should pay attention to its job board here.
