Developing a video game requires years of work from dozens to thousands of people. That work was recognized at The Game Awards on Thursday, where developers took home awards for being best in their genres, innovating gaming accessibility, and the Game of the Year.

Electronic Arts
Electronic Arts (EA) publishes AAA video games spanning multiple genres, with its live-service first-person shooter game Apex Legends receiving a nomination for Best Ongoing game at The Game Awards.
EA is hiring a gameplay software engineer for one of its EA Sports titles. Hired candidates will report to the senior engineer and work with a team to deliver the gameplay features envisioned by producers and designers.
Applicants are expected to have a bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field alongside a proficiency in C++ and artificial intelligence implementation. EA notes that applicants do not need to qualify for all requirements to be considered.
The role is either based out of EA’s Victoria or Vancouver office and comes with a salary range of $93,700 CAD to $153,900 CAD per year.

Piranha Games
Founded in 2000, Piranha Games makes action-focused games with experience in AAA licensed titles such as Need for Speed and Duke Nukem. Having recently released MechWarrior 5: Mercenaries, the Burnaby, British Columbia-based developer is seeking a senior software engineer to create gameplay-related systems and features.
Applicants to this role should have at least seven years of programming experience, preferably in the video game industry, and have shipped one AAA title. Successful candidates will be expected to profile and make the appropriate optimizations in speed, memory, and bandwidth for the game system. This role comes with a salary ranging from $95,000 CAD to $110,000 CAD per year and accommodates remote working.

Intel
While not directly developing games, chip-maker Intel is hiring a game DevTech engineer to directly work with game and engine developers to create and optimize solutions using Intel’s platform components, including graphics and central processing units.
Applicants should have, at minimum, a bachelor’s degree in a STEM-related discipline, four years of experience as a game developer, and familiarity with modern processor architecture. Intel will give extra consideration to applicants with experience in developing games in Unity or Unreal Engine.
The role is fully remote and comes with an annual salary range of $98,430 CAD to $147,750.
