Dell has added the XPS 13 2-in-1 tablet PC to its premium XPS lineup.

The new 2022 XPS 13 2-in-1 leaves behind the old swivelling keyboard and embraces the fully detachable tablet PC route. Designed to be portable, the 13-inch XPS 2-in-1 is 7.8mm thick and weighs just 736g on its own. Adding on the magnetic XPS Folio keyboard cover adds another 560g, bringing its total weight to 1,386g.

For its display, the XPS 2-in-1 uses a 13-inch, 3K touchscreen that’s certified for Display HDR 400 and 500-nit brightness. It’s protected by the tough Gorilla Glass Victus with an anti-reflective, anti-smudge coating. The display also supports the XPS Stylus active pen.

The XPS 2-in-1 uses Intel’s 12th generation Core i5 and i7 processors combined with up to 16GB of LPDD4x memory. Storage options include 256GB, 512GB, and 1TB PCIe 4 SSD.

Both the XPS Stylus and the Folio keyboard cover are sold separately. The XPS Folio cover features Dell’s zero-lattice keyboard with 1mm travel, full backlighting and a Windows Hello fingerprint power button. The Folio keyboard cover can prop up the XPS 2-in-1 at one of three angles to improve ergonomics. Both the pen and the keyboard attach magnetically.

Despite its thinness, the XPS 2-in-1 still comes with a 48.5Whr battery.

To support remote work, there’s a 1080p front-facing camera and an 11MP rear-facing camera.

The XPS 2-in-1 comes with a pair of USB-C Thunderbolt 4 combo ports. They’re used for both charging and data, so a dock is probably needed for a full desk setup with lots of accessories. And although the device no longer includes a 3.5mm headphone jack, Dell does include an adapter that converts one of the USB ports to one.

The Dell XPS 13 2-in-1 starts at C$1,449 with the keyboard and will be available on Aug. 25. The Wi-Fi model will launch first, with the 5G model coming at a later date. The XPS Stylus is an extra C$125. IT World Canada has asked Dell for the cost of the XPS Folio alone.
