L-SPARK has revealed the six startups joining the ninth cohort of its B2B SaaS accelerator.

This year’s group is made up of Ottawa-based companies Proxi.id, NovaceneAI, and Goodly Cloud. It also includes Toronto firms Formic AI and Shippie, as well as Montréal-headquartered Oxia Initiative.

L-SPARK said it has assisted 110 companies in raising a collective total of $250 million.

Proxi.id offers a verification tool that is used to verify the academic status of post-secondary students and faculty, in addition to military personnel and public service workers.

According to Proxi.id, its academic verification service can stop fraud, reduce friction, increase compliance, and boost sales.

Led by founder and CEO Marcelo Bursztein, NovaceneAI uses artificial intelligence to automate the process of turning raw unstructured data into actionable insights, helping organizations optimize their operations.

Based in Plantagenet, which is 60 kilometres from Ottawa, Goodly Cloud provides a hardware lifecycle management platform for mobile devices such as phones, tablets, and laptops. The startup’s platform includes features for managing inventory, incidents, and requests.

Goodly said that it expects the guidance and technical support provided by L-SPARK will help narrow its focus as it executes towards product market fit.

Throughout the next six months, the accelerator participants will receive mentoring and technical support tailored to their business from L-SPARK’s network of experts and advisors.

L-SPARK’s other accelerators include those that focus on connected car and medicine technology, as well as one that is dedicated to women entrepreneurs from eastern Ontario. In 2018, L-SPARK launched an accelerator with BlackBerry that will give companies access to the latter’s QNX technology. Two years later, in 2020, L-SPARK unveiled its medical technology accelerator program in partnership with Telus, BlackBerry, Solace, and the Canadian Internet Registration Authority.

L-SPARK launched the first cohort of its B2B SaaS accelerator in 2015. To date, the organization said it has assisted 110 companies in raising a collective total of $250 million. It also claims that it has over 20,000 SaaS investors, corporate partners, and startups in its network.

Some of the past participants of L-SPARK’s B2B SaaS accelerator include Nugget.ai, Heyday, Upchain, and ProcedureFlow.
