You might not know the name Alexis Gay, but you know Alexis Gay.

You’ve seen her videos, which perfectly articulate the absurdities of working in tech, deftly navigating the hottest topics of discussion while also being exhausted by them.

“One of the things that’s funniest in tech is the complete and utter lack of self-awareness.”
– Alexis Gay

You probably saw them as they started blowing up during the pandemic. As Alexis describes on this podcast, they then started really blowing up.

So much so that Alexis quit her career in tech doing BD at Twilio and then Patreon—a company built to support creators—to become a creator herself: a comedian and podcast host.

In many ways, this conversation is an exploration of how a keener, over-achiever improv/drama kid abandoned the tech career path many of us are still on to become an entrepreneur in the new media landscape—very topical 2022 stuff.

But as I noted above, she’s still talking and thinking about tech. On her excellent podcast Non-Technical, this keener, over-achiever improv/drama kid spends a lot of time speaking to people like Mark Cuban and Kara Swisher, finding (and enjoying) the humanity within some of tech’s biggest names. I could never do it.

Contradictions abound, but that’s what makes this a very enjoyable conversation with a very interesting person.

So it’s time to learn more about Alexis Gay, the funniest person in tech.

Let’s dig in.
